Brown Bag Book Group at Meredith Public Library
The book group will be reading The Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl in addition to The Murders in the Rue Morgue a short story by Poe considered to be the world's first detective story. Library Trustee and former English teacher, Rhetta Colon, will be leading the group. Copies of the book and the short story can be picked up at the main desk. Feel free to bring your lunch. Refreshments will be served.

Edgar Allan Poe Short stories and poems discussion
A discussion will be held to look at several of Poe's short stories and poems, Emily Burritt will lead the discussion.

Haunted Walk and Halloween Party
Nevermore! Join us for a haunted walk of the library grounds and wooded trail. As you make your journey, you will be guided to read The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe and answer the trivia questions related to the poem. All who complete the journey will be invited back inside the library for a Halloween Bash and some special treats for correct answers! All ages who dare attend are welcome.

Readers will discuss their impressions and memories of many of Edgar Allan Poe's Classic tales and poems.

Poe Lives On: Modern Uses of His Life & Work
A book discussion of Entombed by Linda Fairstein in conjunction with a reading of Poe's poem, "The Raven" and his short story, "The cask of Amontillado". The group will discuss the use of the poem as well as the short story in the modern novel and how Poe's work has informed many aspects of modern culture and literature. We will also watch a clip from "The Simpson's" TV show where the poem was used and discuss other areas of modern culture where participants may have seen Poe's continued influence.

An adult book discussion of Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, and of The Pale Blue Eye by Louis Bayard will explore Poe’s life, writing, and influence.

A Reader's Theatre Production of Poe stories
Poe comes alive as scenes from his life and works, including The Tell-Tale Heart, Masque of the Red Death, Annabel Lee and The Raven are presented by Eclectic Entertainment in a dramatic theater performance.
